Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. I was the Logroom Yeoman and assigned to M/R Division. Got out in 1968 as YN1 after eight years. Served two tours on the Newport News (CA 148) and a tour at ComPhibLant. Still work full time as Shipping & Receiving Manager at a mid-sized metal stamping plant.

I transferred to the Fiske from the USS Huntington when Fiske came to Bayonne in '73. Had some great times and hold many fond memories. Really enjoyed the Med cruise in '74. Believe it or not, I was no relation to the Captain, or Fireman Fitzgerald. If any one has pictures of crew members from my time frame I would appreciate a copy.

During my almost 2 years aboard Fiske, as a 17 year old very young man, I was able to see things and visit exotic places that most people never get to see in a lifetime. On the way back from Vietnam, one of my shipmates, under the influence of drugs, maliciously cut my throat which necessitated a transfer to US Naval Station Newport upon return. In March 68 I was transferred to the USS Tattnall (DDG19) in Charleston, SC where I received the cherished "early out" to go to college under the GI Bill. Have been having a pretty good life ever since. I would like to say hello to all of my former shipmates and thank them for so many experiences of a lifetime!

Swam back to the ship from San Remo, Italy after being a bit late for the liberty boat. Swam around the ship from the wharf at Valencia to avoid the quarterdeck watch, after being a bit late returning from liberty. Swam back to the wrong ship at another place, after being a bit late returning from liberty. Dove back in and swam to the Fiske. Left the Navy after one tour; I could never have had as good a time or done as prestigious work as in the first four years, nor could I have met better, more interesting shipmates.

Went on the Mid-East Cruise. Was on board when we hit the sub. Ran aground with: Smitty, Picker, Sorrenson, Natiliccio, Ginn, Carrington: all First Div. Lot of Caribbean and Gitmo cruises. Oh, I forgot: Mark Schutt. I got hurt June 15, 1973 in Recefe, Brazil and the ship left me there with no passport, money, or the ability to speak the language. What a challenge. Be glad to hear from 1st Div.

Never forget my last two cruises. Having a sub surface under you has got to be one for the books. Riding out a bad storm while only able to do 5 knots because we had to stay with a crippled sister was also unforgettable. Fun times we had screwing with the midshipmen on a training cruise.

I swapped from the USS Cecil (DD835), after the Nam tour, onto the Fiske for the Mid-East tour, with a guy named Belton, SN. Made many good friends on the Fiske. Just can't remember who most of them are. I was in 1st Div. I hung around with a lot of friends from many divisions. I remember Hope, Vazzina, Tillory, the guys from the Signal Bridge (Radio, TV, Dinner). I was always in trouble with the Brass. They claimed I had my wife sleep on board one night. Now I'm credited with starting the co-ed Navy.
